Artist Statement

My inspiration for this piece was to do something simple, but also something that I like. I chose the seashell because I think that I would have been the perfect canvas for this type of art. The way that the seashell is shaped and how it looks, I thought It would look very good.

This first step that I took was to draw up my four sketches, and chose one. Once I did that I drew the once that I chose onto my final draft, and created the contour lines. Then I used the ink to go over my drawing and added some more contour lines and indications of light source to make it more realistic.

Cross Contour

My inspiration for this piece was that since this was the first portrait I have ever drawn, I wanted it to be of someone legendary and fearsome, and who would be a better candidate than Bruce Lee. I wanted to show people through this drawing how determined and dedicated I am to becoming a great artist similar to Bruce Lee being a great martial artists.

The first step that I took was to create a grid on the blank sheet of paper and the reference so I would have the correct porportions. Then I began to outline the drawing, and mapping everything out. After that I started shading my drawing from dark to light while also erasing my grid lines. And finally I crosshatched my hair and used the cotton ball to make the face appear smoother.

Grid Drawing

Oil Pastel

My inspiration for this piece was to pick something simple like a watermelon and turn it into a great piece. I wanted to do this to show other artists that you dont have to draw something insane for it to look good. All you have to do is draw what you feel and it will come out great.

The process that I took to make my piece was first I drew 4 sketches and picked the one that I wanted to use. Then I practiced in my sketch book to see hoe I was going to go about coloring the piece. After that I drew the watermelon on my final draft, and begin to color it. I used many techniques like sgraffito, heavy pressure blending, and others to make sure that my piece was the best that it could be

Your Biggest Enemy

My inspiration of this piece was to do something kind of simple like a silhouette, and prove to someone that I can still turn it into a good piece that would deserve an A when finished.

The process that I took for this piece was very long. I first created my four drawing and chose one that would become my final piece. Then I practiced in my sketchbook and trace my drawing in my sketchbook onto my final paper. Then I used the wet on wet technique to create my background. Once it dried I began to use wet on dry to put in some details, and that is as far as I have gotten.

My inspiration for this piece was that I really wanted to use cubism in a different way than what I have seen. In all of the cubism pieces I has seen they all had a sad vibe to them and I wanted to make something uplifting and inspirational. I think that all superheros are inspirational, but for some reason Wolverine stood out to me. I think it was because although Wolverine is a very popular character in many ways he is looked as a sad mean character when that isn't the case at all.

The process that I took for this piece was not as long as the other projects I have done. First I drew my first four drawing of the piece. Then I chose one and began mapping it out on my canvas board. After that I started to begin painting each shape of the piece until the whole canvas board was covered. Finally I begin adding layers until I felt that the piece was finished.

My inspiration for this piece was to do a drawing about something that everyone knew a little about. I chose the phone and the many because everyone know what they are. Also when I show those things in a negative way they will think about it and be more drawn to my piece.

The first step I took in creating this piece was draw some sketches to see how I wanted the ending result to look. THen I used the light thing in the back of the room and traced the drawings on my final paper. After that I began to color the piece with color pencils, and finally I went over everything with a black color pencol to make the piece pop.

My inspiration for this piece was the draw something that would capture people and make then wonder what my piece is trying to convey. So I thought of something that people struggle with and I realized that people struggle with themselves more than anything. So I decided to make my piece convey that idea that you are your biggest enemy.

The first step I took in creating this piece was draw my 4 sketches. Then I used the tracing board in the back of the room to trace my sketches onto my final paper. After I did that I colored the piece, and traced the final piece with a black color pencil.

Graffiti

My inspiration for this piece was to just draw something that I would spray paint on a wall if I could. I also wanted to draw a cool cartoon character that would capture the graffiti feel. I chose Huey from the Boondocks because when I see him I instantly get a graffiti vibe from his design.

The first thing I did in this piece was draw on my final piece, I did not do any sketches because I felt that the piece wouldnt be authentic and original. One I drew the piece I began coloring the piece with color pencils. Then with a sharpie marker I outlined my graffiti words to make them pop and outline my drawing with a black color pencil.

Statue

My inspiration for this piece was to do something that matched the culture of the tiki sculptures, and at the same time put my own unique flavor on it. I chose ku because I thought that he was the coolest out the other gods and was the one that I could represent the best.

The first thing I did was wrap a piece of clay around a roll to get the shape. Then I cut any extra clay off and began toadd the facial structure. I first cut out the eyes, then I added the mouth then the nose. After that a added a crown and glazed it.

Digital

My inspiration for this piece was to do something that would capture the attention of people my age with my interests. I also wanted to use products that I like. I also wanted to make the class like my ads and want the merchandice.

The majority of the process was me trying to figure out what I wanted to do and how I wanted the layout to be. After I figured that out I just took some picture from google and put it together to fit my vision.
